Sharjah Ruler opens world book fair held at expo centre

Sharjah: His Highness Shaikh Dr Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qassimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, on Wednesday inaugurated the Sharjah World Book Fair. The 27th edition of the 10-day cultural and edutainment event is organized by the department of culture and information of Sharjah government at the Sharjah expo centre. 491 Arab publishers and 272 foreign publishers from around 23 countries will exhibit more than 100,000 titles, out of which 28,698 are in Arabic. The number of new editions to be put on display amounts to 57,927. The opening ceremony was attended by high profile audience, including Shaikhs, ministers and senior officials and prominent Arab and foreign publishers.
